920 S Ocean, Palm Beach

An irreplaceable Palm Beach landmark, Casa Eleda embodies the romance, history, and architectural grandeur that define the towns most storied estates. It is impossible to overlook the remarkable provenance behind this exceptional oceanfront property, as it is deeply intertwined with Palm Beachs vibrant past. Affectionately known by locals as the Ham and Cheese House, a reference to Maurice Fatios iconic use of alternating brick and coquina stone, Casa Eleda stands as a masterwork of timeless design. Originally commissioned for renowned businessman Mortimer L. Schiff, the residence is a deeply personal tribute; its name, Eleda, is a nod at his wife Adeles name spelled in reverse. Designed by Maurice Fatio in the Italian Romanesque style, the estate offers over 150 feet of direct ocean frontage and features a rare private tunnel to the beach complete with an elevator. A beachfront cabana includes a living room, wet bar, and full bath, creating a seamless extension of the homes luxurious lifestyle. The residence encompasses seven bedrooms, ten full baths, and four powder rooms, with striking architectural details throughout: classical stonework, graceful arched windows, and beamed cypress ceilings. Every room reflects meticulous craftsmanship and refined balance. Interior design is by Susan Zises Green, with interior architecture by Smith Architectural Group. The geometrically balanced courtyard anchors the home, offering lush garden views from every principal room. The romantic outdoor setting features multiple loggias, a swimming pool, and a relaxing fountain, all surrounded by tranquil landscaping designed by Mario Nievera. The oceanfront formal living room impresses with a soaring coffered ceiling, hardwood floors, and a marble fireplace. The elegant dining room features stone floors, a marble fireplace, and a beamed cathedral ceiling. The pristine chefs kitchen is both functional and beautiful, while a striking bar room seamlessly connects the formal living room to the oceanfront library. The oceanfront primary wing is a private sanctuary, offering dual baths and closets, a sitting room with fireplace, and a balcony with expansive water views. Additional amenities include an exercise room, office, elevator, recreation room, and an exceptional wine cellar. Casa Eleda is a piece of Palm Beach history that has been masterfully preserved and exquisitely presented for the most discerning buyer.
